China
BorgWarner entered China in 1993 with a joint venture to supply transmission products to Beijing Jeep.
BorgWarner formed a joint venture in Ningbo to produce thermal products five years later.
BorgWarner Automotive Components Co., Ltd., was established in Ningbo in 2004 to produce engine and drivetrain systems and components for several local Chinese automakers.
The Shanghai office was opened in 2004 to strengthen collaboration between global business units.
Opportunities in China continue to grow. BorgWarner expects as much as 20% of its new business to come from Asia.
Japan
In 1964, Transmission Systems established a joint venture with NSK Limited. Today the facility in Fukuroi City produces transmission bands, friction plates, one-way clutches and clutchpacks. In 1992, it opened a new manufacturing and engineering facility.
A joint venture with Tsubakimoto in 1965 became wholly-owned BorgWarner Morse TEC Japan K.K. in 1984. Its campus in Nabari City includes three plants, producing Hy-VoŽ transmission chains, engine timing components and silent timing chains. In 2004, it opened another facility in Aoyama..
Hitachi Warner Turbo Systems Limited, a joint venture, manufactures turbochargers for passenger cars in Hitachinaka City.
India
In 1987, Turbo Systems entered India with a joint venture in Chennai, where it produces turbochargers for passenger cars. The company's thermal business manufactures fans in the same city.
Divgi-Warner, a Transmission Systems' joint venture, produces transfer cases and automatic locking hubs at its facilities in Sirsi and Pune. The operation opened in 1995.
In 2002, Morse TEC began making chain products and engine timing system components through its joint venture in Kakkalur.
Beru manufactures diesel start systems at its facility in Pune.
South Korea
BorgWarner entered South Korea in 1987 in a joint venture with Hyundai and NSK-Warner to produce automatic transmission components.
In Eumsung, TorqTransfer Systems services transfer cases, and the Transmission Systems' joint venture produces friction products and one-way clutches.
Fans and fan drives are made at a BorgWarner operation in Changwon.
Pyongtaek is home to the Turbo Systems' joint venture which produces turbochargers as well as the Morse TEC plant that makes chain products.
Beru operates a production facility in Shihuhg-City and a joint venture in Chungiu-City.
Taiwan
Morse TEC opened its facility in Tainan Shien in 1996.
The operation makes silent cam chains for motorcycle engines.
